anne hathaway gold ball gown

When America’s sweetheart, Anne Hathaway, announced that she was engaged, everyone became enthralled with what she would wear as she went down the aisle.  Once again, we’ have some of the best of the best bridal houses came up with some delicious ideas as to what they think she would choose for her wedding dress:

Claire Pettibone:
Claire Pettibone specializes in ethereal dresses with a playful, vintage look; truly for a bohemian girl who wants to stand apart from the crowd. Claire’s romantic and ultra feminine line incorporates jeweled eyelet lace, silk floral appliqués and detailed European trimmings.

The Claire Pettibone 2012 “Beau Monde” collection is inspired by a languid summer in the French countryside. This juxtaposition of gilded refinement and relaxed country living adds a touch of Parisian luxury with a modern sensibility. Lots of lace, elegant sleeves, illusion necklines, and as always, Pettibone’s signature stunning back details are found in this homage to the decadence of 18th century France…ooh la la!

Through studying at Parsons and working with brides-to-be at Kleinfelds, Angel acquired a keen eye for fit and proportion. His couture creations exude sophistication by dramatic sweeping silhouettes while flattering the female figure. Angel Rivera’s opulent designs perfectly combine fashion forward notions with traditional timeless beauty.

Junko Yoshioka:
Inspired by the cultural movement of the renaissance, Junko Yoshioka bridges the past and present with her fabrics, construction & detailing; masterfully utilizing dimensional laser cut silks, antiqued ombre matelasses and embroidered laces to create a collection of modern grace and timeless beauty.

Believe it or not, your send off can be just as important as your entrance for your wedding.  After a great night, you need a great finale—it’s a sweet finish to a sweet evening.  Moreover, it’s a great picture opportunity!  That being said, how do you plan a great, memorable send off?

Your first choice will be if you want to do your send off after your ceremony or after your reception.  Traditional weddings of yesteryear opted for post ceremony where the couple would run through happy guests tossing birdseed.  I personally favor doing the send off after the wedding, as it seems to make more sense:  what’s the point of sending you off when your guests will see you after cocktail hour?

However, if you choose to do your send off after your ceremony, there are some great options that capitalize on two things that are great for wedding ceremonies:  daylight and open air:

Balloons

recessional

Rose Petals

Bubbles

Ribbon Wands

These are all beautiful, festive and fun!  Night time send offs add a flair of their own with even greater potential:

I can remember watching Tangled with my children at the movie theater and seeing the birthday scene with the lanterns, thinking, that would make an awesome send off for a wedding!

I thought it was absolutely stunning and romantic—the perfect ending for a wonderful night! But there are more options for the evening, too:

Sparklers

Fireworks

What great ways are you ending the night with your wedding?

Ines DiSanto’s Spring and Summer 2012 trunk show celebrates glam—which I am so very excited about. The gowns range from the very full ball gowns with curve enhancing bodices to sleek bias cut sheaths that mirror Old Hollywood sirens.  If you are looking for a gown, her trunk show should definitely be on the look out for your city.

With each gown as unique as the personalities they were inspired by, Ines’ latest collection ranges from modern glamour to classic elegance. Applying today’s trends along with her signature touches, Ines adds embellishment to luxurious fabrics and delicate treatments like pleating and ruching to dramatic silhouettes. Using unique textured fabrics and sexy slits befitting the red carpet, runway or aisle, Ines’ Spring/Summer 2012 collection is award-worthy.

Word is that beauty Evelyn Lozada, fiancee to Chad Ochocinco is in the talks to have Ines design a custom gown for her delicious upcoming wedding. I can’t wait to see what she chooses!

There are no richer tones than blue and purple.  There is just something extremely royal about these two colors when they are in their deep, jewel toned shades.  Also, in their softer tones, they are very ethereal and light– almost airy.

I love the softness of the florals, too– hydrangeas are beautiful flowers with full blooms that come in light blues and purples, which is perfect for this particular palette.  As you can see, when placed against white or ivory (even the shimmery gold linen as pictured), it is a heavenly mix!

This palette is just as striking with its blend of sapphire and amethyst. It adds a bit more formality to the event, but still carries it well on its own– even with a little whimsy, as seen with the feathers.  If you’re looking for impact– these are your colors.

I am so completely in love with Yala Designs!  Their beautiful creations include clothing for children, women and men as well as  items for the home and travel.

Weddings have a reputation for being guiltlessly over-the-top. By the time the honeymoon comes around, you’re ready to relax and just be yourself again. Yala, a newly launched line of buttery-soft, eco-friendly comfort essentials designed by a mother/daughter team of well-travelled brides, has right stuff to have you feeling totally chic in your own skin and ready for whatever adventure comes after the bouquet toss:

Soft Whites for Happy Nights
Yala’s Flirty Lace Nightie and Short Robe  are each made from 100% organically-farmed bamboo fiber. The sumptuous fabrics keep you warm but stay cool to the touch – so you CAN show off a little extra skin. Any night.  I have this one and it is my favorite! It is so soft and comfortable to sleep in!

Something Blue
The Sophie Short Wrap has day-to-evening, plane-to-pool versatility and packs small so you can stay warm and elegant without sacrificing room in the suitcase. If the honeymoon takes place somewhere a bit too rustic for comfort, be sure to take the Double Deluxe DreamSack, a habotai silk sleeping liner for two that offers confidence when travel accommodations don’t.

Always Say Thank You
Gift your wedding party a monogrammed PashBu Scarf in a rainbow of candy colors. A classic, especially one this soft and well made, never goes out of style.  I am a lover of the limited edition ruffled pashbu– so sweet!

Yala designs are made of organically-farmed fibers, naturally stain, wrinkle and odor resistant, and proudly GreenShipped  to your doorstep.
