Sheer Beauty

01016 Curly Willow Blush 01015 Organza Solid Pink  05109 Curly Willow Mink

With Fashion Week being full of beautiful designs, I love looking back to one of my favorite trends this year, and of course, transferring it over to my industry: weddings and events.  Designers like Donna Karan, Oscar de la Renta,  Max Azria and Michael Kors have created some of the most alluring fashions based around the trend.  I’ve loved everything about this look:  from gauzy, light fabrics to beautiful translucent makeup.  This of course plays off the Minimalist trend that was also hanging around.

The “sheer face” is perfect for the fresh, dewy, ingénue look that some brides seek to capture with their wedding day makeup:

Details: The Curly Willow White/Ivory Cap from Wildflower Linens

My adoration runs deep for Wildflower Linens, and I absolutely LOVE this chair cap from their white ivory collection.  Trust me, this is just one of many beautiful designs available.  However, this one was so incredibly striking for me because I loved the ornate filigree work on the gold chair with its understated padding.  Yet it is the bunched ruffled satin cap that adds the plush glamour to the overall design.

Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya Da Da…

No, I’m not practicing my baby talk.  After the Soprano’s disappointing finale, my unborn child has already heard a few choice words.  I’m singing the lyrics to the super sultry and suggestive, Lady Marmalade.  It is also the inspiration for this week’s storyboard, Lady Marmalade.  Painted in red in black and shrouded in mystery and romance, this is a great starting point for your Moulin Rouge themed wedding.  Inspired by the movie and Cirque du Soleil , we bring a culmination of elements to appeal to the senses.  Though there are some key things we would change to make this more dynamic for the client, we hope it inspires you! See you next week, when our new storyboard will be….(LOL you’ll have to come back to find out!)
