Hanging with the Luxtables

Cosby show fans will get the play on words :) With all the running around we’ve been doing, it feels like I’ve been gone forever. The Captain and I got a chance to settle down with us just, for a teensy little while for New Years at the Ocean Lodge. This was such a surprise and welcome treat for us both, and much needed.
About a week or so prior, the Captain and I met up with Anna and Spencer Clark of Anna and Spencer Photography (naturally!) to hang out an do some shooting (you can see one of the new headshots here). I chose the Ocean Lodge because even though I have had clients who had their weddings there, it would be the first time for me on the property. The place was gorgeous—it is a boutique hotel that creates an atmosphere and experience all its own the minute you step into the door. It’s not just the beautiful architecture, fine linens or ornate fixtures that make the place beautiful; its staff is second to none. They were so kind to let us have full reign of the hotel during our shots, but they also invited us to their Christmas Party (Honey, the food was divine. I’ll be having a sit down with Chef David and sharing it with you soon!).
The Captain saw how enamored I was with the place and planned a little secret getaway for us on New Years. We stayed in the beautiful penthouse suite over looking the water.
I know this picture is horrible, but the sky and water were too beautiful not share.
The best nights’ sleep EVER! This was the best bed!
Only a mother will appreciate what I will say next… This had to have been my FAVORITE part of the entire suite and stay. To take a bath, without one of your children coming in, stripping naked and tossing their toys in the tub to get in with you is AWESOME.
But now to the stuff that matters…
Looky what I found! I had never laid eyes on this mixer by Stirrings. It is for that reason alone that we got it. It called for the exotic cachaça, which of course couldn’t be found, so we settled with the P.I.N.K. vodka instead. Poor us.
The next day was cool, but still beautiful—it amazes me sometimes that I actually live here!
Here we are :) We spent most of the day in bed, vegging, watching Lock Up on MSNBC. I kid you not. It was awesome—especially since we didn’t have to watch the Disney Channel or Nick Jr EVER during our stay. The only thing that would’ve topped it off was if there as an MMA fight. 🙂
