Brendan’s self-titled sophomore effort was released in September on Decca landing at #1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart and remained in the Top 15 Overall Albums amongst artists such as Justin Bieber, Brandon Flowers, Kings of Leon and Sara Bareilles. He also debuted in the Top 100 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart. Fashion Monday: Rent the Runway Expands to Bridal Fashions

Rent the Runway, the leading online destination for dress and accessory rentals,continues its rapid expansion with Rent the Runway Weddings, a natural next step in the online rental business.  The new site will cater to the bride, her bridesmaids, and wedding guests by offering exclusive bridesmaid collections, bridal accessories, and styling services.  The bridesmaid collections have been designed exclusively for Rent the Runway Weddings by top designers Badgley Mischka, Robert Rodriguez and Nicole Miller.  Additional non-exclusive styles will be available from Shoshanna and Calypso.  To celebrate the launch, Rent the Runway will be offering a week’s worth of prizes from brands such as Fresh Cosmetics, Spanx, and Blueprint Cleanse.

Jenny Fleiss, President and Co-Founder of Rent the Runway stated, “Bridesmaid dresses are the quintessential dress women only wear once.  With Rent the Runway Weddings, we’ll finally solve the ‘27 Dresses’ problem.”

Each designer’s bridesmaid collection will offer up to four styles in up to four seasonal colors, allowing the bride to mix-and-match a selection of bridesmaid dresses best suited to her bridal party.  Brides will also have the opportunity to personalize her bridesmaid dresses with optional embellishments such as jeweled belts and sashes.  Bridesmaid dress rentals will start at $65 and include a one-day fitting in addition to an 8-day rental period.

Jennifer Hyman, CEO and Co-Founder of Rent the Runway stated, “We found on average that each bride was buying up to six dresses for all occasions surrounding her wedding.  As a result, we’ve made a portion of the site dedicated to helping the bride find dresses for all of these events with personal recommendations from our RTR Stylists.”

For the bride, Rent the Runway Weddings will offer dress and accessory rentals for all occasions surrounding the wedding, including the engagement party, bachelorette party, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, and honeymoon.  While the website will not offer wedding gown rentals, an extensive selection of accessories will be available for the wedding day from top jewelry designers Badgley Mischka, Miriam Haskell and Ciner, among others.  Wedding accessory rentals will start at $10.

After the wedding is over, you may want to check out fashions from DKNY for the honeymoon! They are versatile and can also be worn for dressier occasions or work.

We Likey: Cocktails HD for the iPad

So we all know I’m a huge fan of cocktails.  Okay, granted.  When I received a copy of Cocktails HD for Martini II (my iPad…yes, it’s named) from Pocket Cocktails, Inc., I was ecstatic.  Cocktails HD is the best bartending app ever and has completely replaced all of the apps I had before.

The high impact colorful design is perfect for entertaining, but also helps me with work as I go through its vast library of cocktails for research for events.  It is informative:  it provides history, detailed recipes, ideas to tweak and more. I love that the images give such great ideas for garnish and design, too.  You can tag drinks as favorites as well as use the Sommelier which has 100 food/wine paring suggestions.  If you’re feeling daring, you can even “shake it up” (literally) for random drink suggestions. 

 

 

 

 

 

All drinks are grouped by category: martinis, classics, summer, tropical, creamy, shooters, warmers and a section of non-alcohol drinks for kids of all ages. Engaging introduction text and tips accompany each drink which allow you to experiment with drink variations and learn interesting trivia about the tremendous range of cocktail content.  The in-depth Bartender’s section includes tremendous information with tips and tricks on how to use bar tools, garnish drinks, muddle and layer, make purees, create spirals, wedges, boats, flags, zests, and much more all in spectacular full color.
