Southern Weddings Magazine Launch Party

Southern Weddings Magazine

I had the honor of attending the Southern Weddings magazine launch party in Atlanta at the Dogwood Restaurant.  Lara and her talented team with the help of some other great pros put together an awesome party.  The party was a hit!  I am so glad that I made the trip and got to see so many good friends.  If you’ve been a fan of the Southern Weddings blog, this is a definite treat.

If You’re Luxe & You Know It: Mona + Brad

When I met Mona and Brad, I instantly loved them.  Everything about them just made me feel like we were old friends.  We met when they were considering Jekyll Island for their ceremony and reception. Unfortunately, due to the strict rules of having events on the beach, they decided to move their wedding to South Carolina.  Even though we did not work together on their wedding, Mona promised to keep in touch.

Mona is one of those women that is stunningly gorgeous…well no. Ridiculously gorgeous, and has the best personality (after all, like attracts like LOL!).  So it was a real treat to get her wedding pictures in our email and see all of the wonderful things she and Brad had planned.  She even shared some of her thoughts on her planning process and the wedding with us.

Check out the rehearsal dinner, which was a costume party (I told you, they are awesome!):

Gorgeous shots from the wedding:

I loved all of the fun and emotions at the party as well:

 Mona and Brad2

C+D:  What did you find was the hardest and easiest part of planning?

M:  The hardest part – was defining the thin line between people "helping you" and "asking nicely" what they want!!
I had individuals on the day before and day of my wedding asking me to include this and amend that… it was very disappointing.
The easy part – was saying "NO" to those who thought they were "helping" or "asking nicely"…(LOL)

C+D:  How did you choose your venue?

M:  From day one – my husband and  I knew we wanted a beach wedding in a town/place that was easily accessible for all guests.

C+D:  Your concept for the rehearsal dinner was genius, what made you come up with it?

M:  A few things –
1.) Who doesn’t like Halloween?
2 ) I had to bring together two families who were different in race, religion, culture, living habits, etc – what better way to break the ice than to be in costume with a few cocktails!!!
3) It was the right thing to do – with so many people coming to support us. The least I could do was have a nice social.

C+D:  If you could relive one moment of your wedding, what would it be?

M:  Ahhh one moment – there were so many moments – but the best moment was walking down the aisle and realizing that my world and my life, would ultimately sky-rocket into eternally happiness, by marrying the my best friend and my partner for life.

Thank you Mona and Brad for allowing me to show off your stellar taste and incomparable love for each other.  And a very special thank you to Gene Ho, and the talented Nadean Bruehlman of Gene Ho Photography who did the photography.

Hanging with the Luxtables

.:: Photo by the fabulous Jill Higgins ::.

Cosby show fans will get the play on words :)  With all the running around we’ve been doing, it feels like I’ve been gone forever.  The Captain and I got a chance to settle down with us just, for a teensy little while for New Years at the Ocean Lodge.  This was such a surprise and welcome treat for us both, and much needed.

About a week or so prior, the Captain and I met up with Anna and Spencer Clark of Anna and Spencer Photography (naturally!) to hang out an do some shooting (you can see one of the new headshots here).  I chose the Ocean Lodge because even though I have had clients who had their weddings there, it would be the first time for me on the property.  The place was gorgeous—it is a boutique hotel that creates an atmosphere and experience all its own the minute you step into the door. It’s not just the beautiful architecture, fine linens or ornate fixtures that make the place beautiful; its staff is second to none.  They were so kind to let us have full reign of the hotel during our shots, but they also invited us to their Christmas Party (Honey, the food was divine. I’ll be having a sit down with Chef David and sharing it with you soon!).

The Captain saw how enamored I was with the place and planned a little secret getaway for us on New Years.  We stayed in the beautiful penthouse suite over looking the water.

I know this picture is horrible, but the sky and water were too beautiful not share.

The best nights’ sleep EVER!  This was the best bed!

Only a mother will appreciate what I will say next… This had to have been my FAVORITE part of the entire suite and stay.  To take a bath, without one of your children coming in, stripping naked and tossing their toys in the tub to get in with you is AWESOME.

But now to the stuff that matters…

We decided to try out this P.I.N.K. vodka out; which is vodka infused with caffeine and guarana. It was actually pretty good and rather smooth.  On the bottle it’s called “The Party Spirit” (that is, after me, of course)

Looky what I found!  I had never laid eyes on this mixer by Stirrings.  It is for that reason alone that we got it.  It called for the exotic cachaça, which of course couldn’t be found, so we settled with the P.I.N.K. vodka instead. Poor us.

The next day was cool, but still beautiful—it amazes me sometimes that I actually live here!

Here we are :)  We spent most of the day in bed, vegging, watching Lock Up on MSNBC. I kid you not.  It was awesome—especially since we didn’t have to watch the Disney Channel or Nick Jr EVER during our stay.  The only thing that would’ve topped it off was if there as an MMA fight.  🙂

And one final :)  Miss you, Capt 🙂

If you ever get an opportunity to come to my area, I hope that a.) you say hello to me during your visit and b.) get  a chance to stay at the Ocean Lodge.  It is a beautiful hotel and experience.  Julie and Pat will take very good care of you!

Strolling Down Sweet Avenue

Before I begin, let’s have a moment of silence to observe the sheer awesomeness of the above cupcake.

I follow Sweet Avenue on Twitter and noticed that they had recently redid their menus on their website.  I was so excited, hungry and jealous of New Jersey residents all in one moment.  Sweet Avenue’s cupcakes are not only pretty to look at but sound like they sound just as good! They also do something which I think is fabulous and a surefire way to generate business and favorite clients– they offer an exclusive daily menu.

For example, today is Thursday, so if you pick up today you have a choice between:

First Row L to R:  Black & White, Dark Side of the Moon, Jet Black, Sexy Sadie

Second Row L to R:  Snowball, White Room, Chocolate Sundae, Fluffernutter

Third Row L to R:  Old Skool, Peppermint Bark, Rocky Raccoon, White Chocolate Chai Latte

Located in Rutherford, NJ, Sweet Avenue offers 100% vegan cupcakes.  With flavors like Pomegrante Champagne, Spiked Egg Nog, red velvet (a la Sexy Sadie) and so many more delightful combinations, your palate is in for a huge treat!
